En el cuerpo de la obra de Luis Barragán, la casa habitación tiene un sitio preponderante, donde la creatividad hunde sus raíces en la tradición y los conceptos de vanguardia ocupan un sitio privilegiado. En sus escritos, dice que su trabajo es “la transposición al mundo contemporáneo de esa nostalgia”, donde ha procurado que “los espacios que habita promuevan la serenidad.” Mucho queda aún por comentar acerca de su arquitectura, tanto sobre aspectos particulares de las diversas residencias antes mencionadas, como al respecto de otras casas o algunos interesantes proyectos que no se llegaron a realizar. La búsqueda de lo emocional y lo espiritual que mantuvo este creador logró, a lo largo de su extensa labor, una recuperación plena y emotiva de los espacios habitacionales. Así se cierra el círculo de su creatividad, que inicia en su infancia en Jalisco y recorre el aprendizaje de sitos y personas cercanos y distantes, para llegar a una feliz amalgama de saberes y percepciones. Las impresiones del pasado y la persistencia de la memoria, lo condujeron a través de las sensaciones y los recuerdos para ofrecer una arquitectura rica en sentidos y mensajes, como uno de los artífices más destacados de la arquitectura mexicana del siglo XX. In the body of Luis Barragán's work, the dwelling house has a preponderant place, where creativity sinks its roots in tradition and avant-garde concepts occupy a privileged place. In his writings, he tells that his work is "the transposition to the contemporary world of that nostalgia", where he has tried to make "the spaces he inhabits promote serenity”. Much remains to be said about his architecture, not only about particular aspects of the various residences mentioned above but also about other houses or some interesting projects that were never completed. The search for the emotional and the spiritual that this creator maintained, throughout his extensive work, achieved a full and emotional restoration of living spaces. This closes the circle of his creativity, which began in his childhood in Jalisco and traveled through the learning of places and people near and far, to reach a happy amalgam of knowledge and perceptions. The impressions of the past and the persistence of memory led him through sensations and memories to offer an architecture rich in meaning and messages, as one of the most outstanding architects of 20th century Mexican architecture.

Historiadora de la arquitectura e investigadora del Instituto de Investigaciones Estéticas de la UNAM. Autora de buen número de libros y artículos sobre la arquitectura mexicana y latinoamericana. Co-fundadora del Comité International de Críticos de arquitectura, CICA, y miembro de la Academia de Artes, además de comprometida con la protección del patrimonio, como miembro de ICOMOS y DOCOMOMO. En la actualidad se des- empeña como Secretaría Técnica del Comité de Análisis para las Obras de las UNAM.
