The construction of Olympic villages is an opportunity to test city models through urban design. The Pan American Village for the Pan American and Parapan American Games Santiago 2023, is part of this tradition and, thanks to its scale, builds on to the experience of Santiago's collective housing projects of the 1960s and 1970s developed by CORMU. Located in the northern part of Ciudad Parque Bicentenario de Cerrillos and close to the Cerrillos subway station on line 6, the Villa is the spearhead for the large-scale housing develop- ment of the Ciudad Parque project. Thanks to the DS19 social integration subsidy, seeks to develop the area with quality standards in design, equipment, and green areas. The commission, carried out jointly by the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, defined both the master plan and the habitability requirements that the project had to meet. It established the topological conditions and uses of the complex, including an important component: the Pan-American promenade, a public space whose objective is to connect the subway with the park through the village, offering a transit area for the community.
La construcción de villas olímpicas es una oportunidad para ensayar modelos de ciudad a través del diseño urbano. La Villa Panamericana para los Juegos Panamericanos y Parapaname- ricanos Santiago 2023, se inserta en esta tradición y, gracias a su escala, se suma a la experiencia de los proyectos de vivienda colectiva de Santiago de los años 60 y 70 desarrollados por la CORMU. Ubicada en la parte norte de la Ciudad Parque Bicentenario de Cerrillos y cercana a la estación de metro Cerrillos de la línea 6, la villa es la punta de lanza para el desarrollo habitacional en gran escala del proyecto de Ciudad Parque que, a través del subsidio de integración social DS19, busca desarrollar la zona con estándares de calidad en diseño, equipamiento y áreas verdes.
