CONTEMPORARY INTERVENTIONS AT LA MONEDA PALACE por — by : gunther suhrcke caballero+katherine gondeck cepeda Las intervenciones contemporáneas del Palacio de La Moneda
El Palacio de La Moneda, como histórica sede del Poder Ejecutivo de Chile, ha sido testigo de los cambios que ha experimentado el país, a los que ha debido adaptarse espacial y volumétricamente. Si bien su impronta toescana permanece, esta ha experimentado una serie de cambios a lo largo de sus 200 años de existencia. Dichas transformaciones conllevan al principal objetivo del presente estudio, a la exposición de aquellas intervenciones de mayor envergadura que han moldeado su imagen actual y que permanece presente en la memoria de todos los chilenos. De estas se destacan seis grandes intervenciones: La construcción de la fachada sur en 1929, la demolición del Pabellón de Acuñación y conformación del Patio de Los Naranjos en 1940, la reconstrucción tras el bombardeo de 1973, el blanqueamiento de fachadas en 2000, la reapertura de Morandé 80 y las conservaciones del periodo 2014- 2019, en conjunto con la elaboración del plan maestro de restauración integral en actual desarrollo.
major interventions stand out: The construction of the south facade in 1929, the demolition of the Pabellón de Acuñación and the creation of the Patio de Los Naranjos in 1940, the reconstruction after the bombing of 1973, the whitewashing of the facades in 2000, the reopening of Morandé 80 and the conservation of the period 2014 - 2019, along with the elabo- ration of the comprehensive restoration master plan currently under development.
La Moneda Palace, as the historic headquarters of Chile's ex- ecutive power, has witnessed changes in the country, to which it has had to adapt spatially and volumetrically. Although its Toescana imprint remains, it has undergone a series of changes throughout its 200 years of existence. These transformations have led to the main objective of this study, the exposure of those major interventions that have shaped its current image and remain present in the memory of all Chileans.
