el proyecto fue desechado durante la pandemia por parte del mandante, aunque espero que Valparaíso lo retome, ya que no sólo remodela los pavimentos de una plaza, sino que pone en valor la historia del puerto”. Terminando el año 2017, obtuvo el primer lugar del concurso internacional para desarrollar el Centro Antártico Internacional. Con este proyecto comenzó una nueva etapa de asociaciones con otros arquitectos que continúan hasta el día de hoy. Em- plazado en el borde costero de la ciudad de Punta Arenas, el edificio cuenta con un centro de investigación avanzada en ciencias antárticas, un museo interactivo, un bosque milenario con especies vivas que existieron previo al congelamiento antártico, un acuario, una sala de proyección inmersiva, una sala de experiencia antártica a -15°C y un auditorio para 600 personas. “Una de las gracias de los concursos es que te permite tener nuevas asociaciones y colaboraciones con arquitectos y, por otro lado, obliga a trabajar con otros profesionales en temas multidisciplinarios. En mi caso he tenido que aprender desde cómo hacer un acuario para especias antárticas, hasta la restauración patrimonial del sistema electromecánico de poleas y tambores de enrollamiento de los ascensores de Valparaíso”, dice. El año siguiente se adjudicó el primer lugar para la infraes- tructura inicial de la Universidad de Aysén, pero no tuvo con- tinuidad por dificultades del mandante en relación al terreno. En 2019, ganó un proyecto más pequeño en un medio rural: un hogar de ancianos, que está actualmente en proceso de financiamiento para su construcción. En 2020 obtuvo el primer lugar en el concurso del Mercado Providencia, que busca recuperar el destino original del edificio como mercado de abastos y gastronómico. Proyecto del cual señala: “En ese concurso, propusimos una potente reinterpre- tación y puesta en valor de los elementos arquitectónicos del edificio original de 1942 –pórtico de acceso, patio central, co- lumnata perimetral y una cubierta abovedada traslúcida-– que esperamos iniciar obras a fines de este año y con ello devolverle su carácter público y de encuentro social de Providencia”. Ese mismo año se adjudicó, también, el Edificio Consistorial de Ibáñez, que será el primero de tres municipalidades en la Región de Aysén, cuyas obras debiesen iniciar obras a fines de 2023. Durante la pandemia vino una etapa prolífera en la que se adjudicó ocho concursos seguidos. Terminó ese año 2020 con

"One of the graces of competitions is that it allows you to have new partnerships and collaborations with architects, and on the other hand, it forces you to work with other professionals on multidisciplinary issues. In my case I have had to learn how to make an aquarium for Antarctic spices, to restoring the electromechanical system of pulleys and winding drums of Valparaiso's elevators," he adds. The following year he was awarded first place for the initial infrastructure of Universidad de Aysén, but it did not continue due to difficulties with the client regarding the land. In 2019, he won a smaller project in a rural environment: a retirement home, which is currently in the process of financing its construction. In 2020, he won first place in the Providencia Market com- petition, which looks to restore the building's original purpose as a food and gastronomic market.
