ferroviaria actual.

German Bannen, "Attention to the city's image, more precisely to the public image of urban space, has always been and will always be a concern”. The "FCAB Railway Yard Conversion Project" is structured on the land-use planning definitions of the Community Regulatory Plan (PRC), an instru- ment that has been in force since 2002, stipulates the road structure, public spaces, and green areas, as well as the characteristics of future buildings and their maximum admissible limits. In addition, land use and other aspects will shape future buil- dings and public image in this sector of the city. Therefore, there are aspects such as the street layout and the determination of the location, shape, and surface of public spaces that, because they are exclusive to IPT, are already predetermined and are a precondition or requirement to be fulfilled as part of the "Railway Yards Conversion Plan". However, these conditions are, at the same time, an opportunity to prefigure the public image of the spaces following the railway layout and the railroad operation in this sector of the city. The pre-existence of the railway elements and the IPT definitions have allowed the contextuali- zation and configuration of public spaces, with

special emphasis on heritage properties, histo- rical railway tracks, and traces, and the survey of heritage railway material that will be part of the public image of these new spaces. The project is being developed in four railroad yards: the North Yard, the South Yard, the Bellavista Yard, and the Antofagasta Yard. This project will materialize and consolidate FCAB's railway belt, which will ensure the railroad's operational and service continuity. With this objective, FCAB will carry out the temporary removal of its main line, which is currently located inside the Railway Yards. The North Yard The North Yard is the largest yard that FCAB has in the city of Antofagasta. It is where all the logistics and current railway operations are located. The area to be intervened is 29.99 hectares. This rail yard defines the public image of the urban space through a 670-meter-long linear park called Railroad Boulevard, which typologically rein- terprets the old depots of the South Yard. Under the eaves and protection of its shade, there are old passenger cars, which will serve as gastronomic programs for the new public space, redefining an
