St. Jude Sunday of Hope Service Comes to Hawaii Honolulu (HI) Alumni, the Oahu NPHC and the 24 th International Grand Basileus of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Celebrate at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church

I n 2008, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. became the first official African American national volunteer partner for St. Jude with the introduction of the Sunday of Hope program. On April 29, 2018, the Honolulu (HI) Alumni Chapter hosted its inaugural St. Jude Sunday of Hope event at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Honolulu, Hawaii, where Brother Dr. Anthony J. Cook serves as pastor. The chapter also had the distinct honor of hosting special guests including our Grand Polemarch, Thomas L. Battles, Jr., Western Province Polemarch Gilbert Brown, and the 24 th International Grand Basileus Mary Braux Wright of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. port from members of the Divine Nine organizations on island to contribute to the success of the event. Hellenic Council. The collective efforts of our organizations raised over $3000 in support of this worthy cause. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a nonprofit children’s hospital located in Memphis, Tennessee founded by Danny Thomas, a man who envisioned a hospi- tal that would treat children regardless of race, color, creed or their family’s ability to pay for services. These tenants ring true because they embody the very essence of the vision set forth by the Founders who dreamt of an organiza- tion that would uplift their community regardless of race, color, or economic status, and continue to do so long after their passing. Additionally, St. Jude treats approxi- mately 7,500 patients annually for ailments such as cancer, blood disorders, and other life-threatening illnesses. The
