As a former student from a family with limited fi- nancial means, I benefitted enormously from the vision of our founder, Lau- rence Clifton Jones, and the generosity of donors who supported him, and who by extension supported me." Continued Local Support for Piney Woods In continuing its local support, the Jackson (MS) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. handed out toiletry items, back-to-school sup- plies, and made a monetary donation of $1,000 on September 3, 2018, to stu- dents at Piney Woods School in Piney Woods, Mississippi. The school supplies donated were book bags, notebooks, binders, pencils, and calculators. The toiletry items included soap, toothbrushes, tooth paste, and a plethora of items for about 25 male stu- dents. In addition to handing out school supplies, the members of Kappa Alpha Psi ® also had moments to fellowship with the students, staff and administra- tion. Piney Woods, founded in 1909, is largest of only four historically African- American boarding schools left in the United States. The founder of Piney Woods, Dr. Laurence C. Jones was also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi ® , and predicated his life towards helping the advancement of young African- Americans in academia, citizenship, and

Kappa Kamp, now being hosted at Paul Quinn College in Texas, teaches youths to envision their educational opportunities as stepping stones and positive influences in their decision making for personal growth and achievement in life. Under the leadership of Kalvin Robinson, Polemarch of the Jackson (MS) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi ® and its members are looking forward to keep- ing the tradition of excellence moving forward with Piney Woods School and is planning to establish many events towards helping young men advance in the 21 st century.
