Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Southern Illinois University in 1967 celebrated their 50 th anniversary in Kappa Alpha Psi ® . The commemoration took place at the Harvey Community Center in Harvey, Illinois. Over 100 people attended the event, including 48 brothers. Ninety-one year old Charter Member, Emmanuel Duncan, talked about how he chartered the chapter in 1950. He was then given a plaque for his 67 years of supporting Gamma Upsilon. Tony Burroughs gave a PowerPoint presentation of photos from 1967. Each anniversary brother was given a customized four-foot wooden paddle with their name, ship name and 1967-2017 in raised letters. The festive evening ended by eating a beautiful strawberry anniversary cake and taking a group photo. Gamma Upsilon Chapter had one of the largest undergraduate chapters in the country in the 1960s with over one hundred brothers in the chapter.
