«El territorio chileno ha sido, durante años, fuente de inspiración para mi trabajo fotográfico. En éste, no busco las grandes vistas y paisajes. Por el contrario, persigo alejarme de la obviedad para acercarme a lo abstracto. Abandonar la amplitud para concentrarme en lo mínimo. Mi intención es construir una nueva imagen con los elementos que entrega el paisaje y el instante. Una imagen que se aleja de lo meramente documental y que reúne escasos elementos figurativos. Una imagen real, por cierto, pero no por esto literal. Una mirada que no requiere de intervenciones ni efectismos durante ni después de la toma.» Nacido en Santiago en 1964, Pablo Valenzuela es el creador del concepto Geometría del instante, que define una estética y una particular mirada sobre el paisaje chileno. Titulado de Ingeniero Civil en la Universidad Católica de Chile, se ha dedicado durante casi treinta años y en forma exclusiva a su gran pasión: descubrir, conocer y fotografiar el patrimonio natural y cultural de Chile. Lo anterior ha tenido como resultado un retrato profundo de la identidad chilena, el cual ha sido ampliamente difundido en libros y exposiciones. «The Chilean territory has been a source of inspiration for my photographic work for years. In this one, I do not look for great views and landscapes. On the contrary, I seek to move away from the obvious to approach the abstract. Abandoning breadth to concentrate on the minimum. My intention is to build a new image with the elements provided by the landscape and the moment. An image that moves away from the merely documentary and that gathers few figurative elements. A real image, certainly, but not for this reason a literal one. A look that does not require interventions or gimmicks during or after the shot». Born in Santiago in 1964, Pablo Valenzuela is the creator of the instant geometry concept, which defines an aesthetic and particular view of the Chilean landscape. With a degree in Civil Engineering from Universidad Católica de Chile, he has dedicated almost thirty years exclusively to his great passion: discovering, learning about, and photographing Chile's natural and cultural heritage. This has resulted in a profound portrait of the Chilean identity, which has been widely disseminated in books and exhibitions.
