A partir de la identificación y del análisis de las variables críticas del continente antártico, Francesco Fama formula y desarrolla el concepto de icebergscape, una tipología inédita de paisaje, y propone una intervención arquitectónica para permitir la aproximación de los seres humanos a estos bloques de hielo. From the identification and analysis of the critical variables of the Antarctic continent, Francesco Fama' has formulated and developed the concept of icebergscape, an unprecedented typology of landscape, and proposes an architectural intervention to allow the proximity of human beings to these blocks of ice.

El cambio climático y el calentamiento global han sido el centro del debate mundial durante las últimas dos décadas, despertando un interés cada vez mayor, tanto en el campo científico como en la opinión pública. Una de las zonas más afectada por estos cambios es la Antártica, considerada uno de los lugares más hostiles del planeta. A pesar de que ha sido habitada duran- te un siglo, su actual situación geopolítica hace difícil la construcción de una identidad cultural e histórica del continente, y la atención se ha canalizado hacia los aspectos científicos y de investigación. Dentro de este retrato tan com- plejo, los icebergs desempeñan un rol especial como fragmentos que constituyen unidades de paisaje dentro del territorio antártico. Debido a sus peculiaridades y características especiales, se genera un icebergscape: una tipología única de paisaje caracterizada por un dinamismo y polimorfismo eterno.
Climate change and global warming have been at the center of world debate for the last two decades, arousing increasing interest, both in the scientific field and in public opinion. One of the most affected areas by these changes is Antarctica, considered one of the most hostile places on the planet. Although it has been inhabited for a century, its current geopolitical situation makes it difficult to build a cultural and historical identity for the continent, and attention has been channeled towards scientific and research aspects. Within this complex por- trait, icebergs play a special role as fragments that constitute landscape units in the Antarctic territory. Due to their peculiarities and special characteristics, an icebergscape is created: a unique landscape typology characterized by eternal dynamism and polymorphism.
