↦ 77 Patrimonio / Heritage LOTA COMPLEJO MINERO DE Patrimonio / Heritage por — by : javiera benavides Máster en Historia y Gestión del Patrimonio Cultural ↦ 77 La reciente inscripción de Lota por parte de Chile en la lista tentativa de Patrimonio Mundial de la Unesco puede ser el punto de partida para visibilizar y asegurar la sustentabilidad en el tiempo de unos de los mayores y diversos conjuntos que forman parte del patrimonio industrial minero de nuestro país. Este paisaje cultural único reúne una enorme riqueza patrimonial tanto ma- terial como inmaterial, y este impulso -fruto de un trabajo colaborativo y bauti- zado como Plan Lota- aparece como una oportunidad de transformar instalaciones en desuso reutilizándolas a través del desarrollo de actividades locales soste- nibles posibilitando su trascendencia a las futuras generaciones. En el primero de los dos artículos que se presentan a continuación el subse- cretario del Patrimonio Cultural, Emilio De la Cerda, presenta el caso y lo sitúa en contexto. Luego, el arquitecto Pablo Fuentes, lo complementa, dando a cono- cer un hito de la arquitectura moderna en Lota: la Remodelación Matías Cousiño. LOTA MINING COMPLEX Chile's recent Lota incorporation in UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites may be the starting point to make visible one of the largest and most diverse groups of sites that form part of our country's industrial mining heritage and ensure its sustainability over time. This unique cultural landscape brings together an enormous wealth of both tangible and intangible heritage, and this initiative - the result of collaborative work and baptized as the Lota Plan - is presented as an opportunity to transform disused facilities by reusing them through the development of sustainable local ac- tivities, making it possible for them to be passed on to future generations. In the first of the two articles present- ed below, the Undersecretary of Cultural Heritage, Emilio De la Cerda, presents the case and places it in context. Then, architect Pablo Fuentes complements it, presenting a landmark of modern ar- chitecture in Lota: the Matías Cousiño Remodeling.
