Como puede apreciarse, en un tiempo relativamente aco- tado, con apoyo transversal y gracias a la coordinación de distintos actores, se han logrado pasos significativos, muchos de ellos postergados por mucho tiempo. Una de las claves de este proceso ha sido poner en el centro la valoración del patrimonio material e inmaterial de Lota, cargarlo de la dignidad que la comunidad le asigna, con lo cual las distintas iniciativas parten desde el arraigo y permiten construir una estrategia, no desde la nostalgia, sino desde un deseo de desarrollo sostenible que sea capaz de respetar la memoria de la cuenca del carbón. El protagonismo de la comunidad y la existencia de un acuerdo formal entre instituciones públicas busca que el Plan Lota sea sostenible en el tiempo, un compromiso de Estado que pueda ir más allá de un gobierno determinado, sea a nivel nacional, regional o local. Esperamos que esta iniciativa sea un punto de inflexión en la historia reciente de la comunidad de Lota y en la salvaguardia de uno de los más importantes enclaves industriales de Chile y América Latina. /

As can be seen, in a relatively short period of time, with transversal support and thanks to the coordination of different actors, significant steps have been taken, many of which had been delayed for a long time. One of the keys to this process has been to place the valuation of Lota's tangible and intangible heritage at the center, to endow it with the dignity that the community assigns to it so that the different initiatives start from the roots and allow building a strategy not from nostalgia, but from a desire for sustainable development that is capable of respecting the memory of the coal basin. The community´s protagonist and the existence of a formal agreement between public institutions that seek to make the Lota Plan sustainable over time, a State com- mitment that can go beyond a given government, whether at the national, regional, or local level. We hope that this initiative will be a turning point in the recent history of the Lota community and the safeguarding of one of the most important industrial enclaves in Chile and Latin America. /
