As a contribution to the neighborhood's habitability, it had a nursery in its inner courtyard that was sheltered from the exterior, vitalized the interior space, and en- couraged the neighborhood´s collective life. The inner courtyard appeared to renew the neighborhood´s social relations, restoring the social intimacy that most orthodox modernism had omitted. The complex was distributed in three blocks forming a "C" on a 3,500 m 2 lot. Two of them, those facing Pe- dro Aguirre Cerda (block A) and Aníbal Pinto (block B) streets, were connected at the first level by portals that gave continuity to the public circulations and unity to the composition. These portals had a hierarchical point at the intersection of Aníbal Pinto Street when reaching P. Aguirre Cerda, originating the access to the complex. This virtual space, basically formed by the lattice´s pillars, formed a portico that originated the interior access of the patio. Here, the first level´s beams´ extension hung a slab that acted as a cover that supported the secondary edge circulation that allowed access to the vertical circulations of each of the five levels. The third building (block C), facing Serrano Street, was the only one designed in isolation, although with similar language. This one did not include commercial space on the first level, but rather a few rooms arranged as living quarters or offices. Each one of them had a width of 8.4 meters and was arranged on an axis every 3.10 meters, in a continuous and regular fashion. This matrix of coordinates determined the complex´s plan and the buildings´ total and essential language. In this way, the first floor´s urban level and the architectural level of the upper floors built volumetric bodies of influence in the public and private space. Block A, on P. A. Cerda Street, was made up of two housing units and Block B, which was located on A. Pinto Street, was made up of three. Pinto Street consisted of three. Each unit measured approximately 15.5 by 8.4 and was made up of a central staircase leading to the inner courtyard, which led to two apartments per level.
