CONCURSO COMPETITION ARQUITECTURA CALIENTE 2018 PREGRADO ARQUITECTURA CALIENTE 2018 UNDERGRADUATES Doce distinciones entregó este concurso que reconoce el trabajo desarrollado a nivel de pregrado en las escuelas de Arquitectura chilenas. The competition, recognizing the undergraduate work developed in Chilean architecture schools, awarded twelve prizes this season. Organizado por Grupo Arquitectura Caliente, en la última versión del CAC participaron 94 proyectos de estudiantes de pregrado provenientes de 20 escuelas de Arquitectura del país, entre los cuales se reconocieron 12 trabajos: un ganador y dos menciones por cada categoría (2°, 3er y 4° + 5° año), además de tres distinciones por zona geográfica. Como premio, los ganadores podrán asistir a una bienal internacional latinoamericana de arquitectura. El certamen contó con financiamiento del Ministerio de las Culturas, las Artes y el Patrimonio, el auspicio de Graphisoft Archicad, la AOA y Ediciones ARQ y el patrocinio del Colegio de Arquitectos. El jurado fue encabezado por Francisca Pulido e integrado por Soledad Larraín, Mirene Elton, Cristóbal Molina, Vesna Obilinovic, Carolina Carrasco, Genaro Cuadros, Lucía Galaretto, María Francisca González y Christian Fierro. Organized by Grupo Arquitectura Caliente, the latest version of the CAC received 94 undergraduate projects from 20 schools of architecture in the country, among which 12 works were recognized: one winner and two mentions for each category (2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th + 5 th year), plus three mentions per geographical area. As a prize, the winners will be able to attend an international Latin American architecture biennial. The competition was funded by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, sponsored by Graphisoft Archicad, the AOA and Ediciones ARQ and backed by the Association of Architects. The jury was chaired by Francisca Pulido and composed of Soledad Larraín, Mirene Elton, Cristóbal Molina, Vesna Obilinovic, Carolina Carrasco, Genaro Cuadros, Lucía Galaretto, María Francisca González and Christian Fierro.

Renca, delimitada por el Mapocho al sur y el cerro Renca al norte, desprende potencialidades paisajísticas únicas en la cuenca de Santiago. Se incentivó la investigación de corredores potencialmente peatonales que permitan conectar ambos hitos geográficos, entre las calles Antofagasta, Colo-Colo y Calle Cinco. Se propone un proyecto a modo de pieza urbana que rescata las preexistencias y consolida el norte del área de estudio. El Santuario de Laura Vicuña, las vistas hacia la cumbre más alta del cerro y un eje de palmeras al lado poniente de la calle y al lado sur del canal ayudaron a definir el desarrollo del proyecto.
The Renca district, limited by the Mapocho river to the south and the Renca hill to the north, reveals unique landscape potential in the Santiago basin. The investigation explored possible pedestrian corridors to connect both geographical landmarks, between Antofagasta, Colo-Colo and Calle Cinco streets. The project proposed an urban piece that recovers the pre-existing conditions and consolidates the northern study area. The Sanctuary of Laura Vicuña, the views towards the highest peak of the hill and an axis of palm trees on the west side of the street and on the south side of the canal helped to define the development of the project.
