En este trayecto de lo rural a lo urbano, además de las viviendas y de un comercio activo, surgieron pequeñas industrias de las cuales sobreviven algunos vestigios. La antigua industria de vidrios de Recoleta, cuyos primeros edificios datan de 1920, dio origen a una interesante infraestructura que mantuvo su carácter fabril hasta fines del siglo XX. Allí, un conjunto de antiguos almacenes y barracas alineadas en torno a un estrecho pasaje peatonal generaron una ciudadela que hoy, luego de una operación de "rescate", acogen a un grupo diverso de empresas creativas y espacios colaborativos de distintas disciplinas. La pieza principal de este conjunto, y la más antigua, es una casona de ladrillos que enfrenta a Recoleta, eje principal del barrio, la que se erige como portada del conjunto. Este edificio acoge las oficinas de la Fundación Mustakis, institución que
promueve el desarrollo intelectual y el despertar creativo de los niños por medio de experiencias interactivas y lúdicas. La habilitación de la casona como oficinas hizo necesario dotar al edificio de nuevos sistemas tecnológicos y de un núcleo de servicios construido con hormigón, que fue revestido con un muro de ladrillo artesanal de características similares al de la estructura precedente, haciendo de este volumen una pieza silenciosa dentro del conjunto. In this transition from rural to urban, in addition to the residential and commercial development, a small industrial core emerged from which some remnants survive. The old glass industry of Recoleta, whose first buildings date back to 1920, gave rise to an interesting infrastructure that kept its manufacturing character until the end of the 20th century. A set of old warehouses and
barracks aligned with a narrow pedestrian lane generated an urban complex that today, after a "rescue" operation, hosts a diverse group of creative companies and collaborative spaces of different disciplines. The main piece of this set, and the oldest, is a brick house facing Recoleta Avenue, the main axis of the neighborhood, which stands as the face of the compound. This building houses the offices of the Mustakis Foundation, an institution that promotes intellectual development and creative awakening of children through interactive and playful experiences. The transformation of the house into office space made it necessary to provide the building with new technological systems and a service center built in concrete, covered with a brick wall of similar characteristics to the previous structure, making this volume a silent piece within the set.
