Construido al pie del glaciar Svartisen en el norte de Noruega, hasta donde sólo se llega por agua, Svart será el primer hotel con estándar Powerhouse de energía positiva y será el más septentrional de su tipo en el mundo. Este nuevo edificio no sólo reduce su consumo anual de energía en alrededor de un 85% en comparación con un hotel moderno, también produce su propia energía. El cuerpo circular de Svart se inspira en la arquitectura vernácula en forma de “fiskehjell” (estructura de madera para secar pescado) y un tipo tradicional de casa usada por pescadores. La referencia se traduce en la estructura de soporte del hotel, construida con postes de madera resistentes a la intemperie que se entierran varios metros bajo la superficie del fiordo. Los extremos aseguran que el edificio produzca una huella mínima en la naturaleza, con un aspecto casi transparente. Built at the foot of the Svartisen Glacier in northern Norway, where it can only be reached by sea, the Svart will be the first hotel with a positive energy standard and will be the northernmost of its kind in the world. This new building not only reduces its annual energy consumption by around 85% compared to a modern hotel, it also produces its own energy. The circular body of the Svart is inspired by the vernacular architecture in the shape of a “fiskehjell” (wooden structure to dry fish) and a traditional type of house used by fishermen. The reference translates into the hotel’s support structure, built with weather-resistant wooden posts that are buried several meters below the surface of the fjord. The extreme condition determined that the building produce a minimal footprint in nature, with an almost transparent presence.
