GENOMIC VERIFICATION: HOMO BLACK & HOMO POLLED
For our bull sale, we had Neogen’s GeneSeek laboratory per- form genomic testing on all our Simmental bulls to determine ho- mozygous black and homozygous polled status. Using high-res- olution DNA genotyping, GeneSeek tests identify animals that carry two copies of the dominant black coat color gene and the polled (horn-free) gene, giving buyers confidence that these desirable traits will consistently be passed on to offspring. On Thursday evening, bulls will be transported to Mobridge Livestock, where they will be penned and ready for in-person viewing all day Friday leading up to the sale.
