_CON ESTA TERCERA ENTREGA culmina el ciclo de investigaciones que durante el año fueron mostrando el asentamiento y evolución de la modernidad arquitectónica y urbana en Venezuela. En el contundente artículo a continuación, los prestigiados académicos venezolanos Arturo Almandoz Marte, Iván González Viso, José Rosas Vera y Alberto Sato Kotani abordan la etapa final de este proceso, representado en las principales obras desarrolladas en la era democrática. El periodo cierra en 1983, año del llamado "viernes negro", cuando producto de la caída de los precios del crudo el gobierno local debió devaluar su moneda y controlar el tipo de cambio. Si bien el impulso de los años previos –con el "Estado de bienestar"– duró un tiempo más, ese año marcó un punto de inflexión en el ritmo de proyectos y desarrollo urbano que el auge petrolero había alimentado: "…progresivamente las luces de la fiesta petrolera se fueron apagando. El Estado comenzó a abandonar el subsidio a sus grandes proyectos y al derroche", según describen los autores. _THIS THIRD INSTALLMENT ends the research cycle which this year showed the consolidation and evolution of urban and architectural modernism in Venezuela. In the following substantial article, prestigious Venezuelan academics Arturo Almandoz Marte, Iván González Viso, José Rosas Vera and Alberto Sato Kotani address the final stage of this process, represented in the main works developed in the democratic era. The period closes in 1983, the year of the so-called "Black Friday", when the local government had to devalue the currency and control the exchange rate as a result of the fall in the price of crude. Although the momentum of the previous years –with the "welfare state"– lasted a while longer, that year marked a turning point in the pace of urban development and the projects that the oil boom had fed: "…the lights of the oil era festival went progressively out: the state began to abandon the subsidy for its large projects and their wastefulness", as described by the authors.
