Levantada en una zona rural cercana a Valdivia, esta cabina de paso fue concebida más como dispositivo que como obra de arquitectura. Por su programa de acopio y por lo representativo de la iconografía local, es una interpretación sintética del granero sureño, funcionando como estación de pausa y bodegaje. Se desarrolló en base a cuatro paneles perimetrales (de prácticamente la misma tabiquería de palos de 2x4"), generando un vano de acceso, sobre los que se instaló un techo a 45°. Toda la cabina se recubrió con palos de 1x4" levemente separados para permitir el paso tenue de la luz. La llegada al suelo se resolvió con 4 palos de 4x4" que dan estabilidad y aíslan la estructura de la humedad. Puede ser desmantelada y guardada para reubicarse según necesidad.
Built in a rural area near Valdivia, this rest stop cabin was conceived more as a device than as an architectural work. Because of its storage function and representative iconography, it is a synthetized interpretation of the southern barn, functioning as a resting and storage station. It was developed on the basis of four perimeter panels (with virtually the same 2"x4" strut partitions), an entrance void, and a 45-degree roof on top. The entire cabin was covered with slightly separated 1"x4" planks to allow the dim passage of light. The connection to the ground was solved with 4 4"x4" beams that give stability and isolate the structure from moisture. It can be disassembled and stored to be relocated as needed.
Primera etapa de un proyecto de vivienda que a futuro se utilizará como casa de invitados y sala de juegos. Para optimizar el programa se propuso concentrar los recintos húmedos en un núcleo central que, a su vez, construye el zaguán de acceso y articula el proyecto en dos zonas iguales que contienen un dormitorio y un área de estar. Dos mochetas hacia cada recinto desde el núcleo contienen zonas de arrimo y cocina. El núcleo permite cerrar puertas para dar privacidad. Los vanos se orientan al poniente y oriente, para dormitorio y estar respectivamente, aprovechando las vistas y orientación respecto de la iluminación natural.
The first stage of a housing project that in the future will be used as a guest house and game room. To optimize the program, the proposal concentrates the humid areas in a central core that, in turn, forms the entrance hall and articulates the project in two equal areas containing a bedroom and a living room. Two short side partitions running from the core towards each enclosure contain cabinets and kitchen. The core allows closing doors to give privacy. The voids face west and east, for bedroom and living area respectively, taking advantage of the views and exposure regarding natural light.
