HILO HARBOR CONSTRUCTION IN 2023 AND BEYOND Contracts planned and currently under - way at Hilo Harbor include: • Heartwood Pacific LLC replaced a portion of existing siding and flashing that contained galbes- tos, also known as galvanized asbestos, with new metal siding and flashing at the Pier 1 Shed. Heartwood also replaced an existing roll-up door with a new steel roll-up door. Total contract value: $244,000. • In the first half of 2023, American Marine Corporation removed pilings at Radio Bay. Total contract value: $49,280. • Close Construction Inc. is tasked with the demolition of an existing water tower, tank structure and the disconnection of all associated utilities under a one-year contract that began in March. Close Construction will then begin improvements to Hilo Harborʻs water system. Total contract value: $3,878,653. • Isemoto Contracting Co. Ltd. will perform repairs to light poles and pedestals at Pier 1 under a contract that runs from March through October of next year. Total contract value: $854,000. • Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co. Inc. has been busy on its two-year contract that ends in April 2024. HDCC’s contract for substruc- ture repairs at Pier 1 includes repairing spalls and delaminations on the underside of the pier and furnishing bollards. Total contract value: $1,418,000. • Abhe & Svoboda Inc. will conduct fender repairs at Pier 3 starting in October under a 10-month contract. Scope of work consists of repairing existing concrete haunches and tire fender system, including the lagging, wales, blocking, bolts, grommets, chains hardware and other items for the entirety of Pier 3. Total contract value: $1,744,418. • Yamada and Sons Inc. will perform pavement repairs at various locations at Hilo Harbor start - ing on Nov. 1 under a year-long agreement.
