The wildfires on Maui have touched all of us, whether you have family or friends living on the Valley Isle or just memories of walking down historic Front Street. The true meaning of the Aloha spirit has become evident by the outpouring of support for everyone who has been affected by this disaster, and we at ABC Hawaii are happy to be able to do our part as well. In the immediate aftermath of the fire, ABC contacted our member companies on the ground on Maui and it became obvious one of the first things needed was emergency power. The call for help was put out and our members on Oahu and the Mainland donated 8 portable emergency generators within the first few days, which we flew over via Aloha Air Cargo. Both ELCCO Electric and No Problem Electric were able to put them into service right away while West Maui Construction and Arita Poulson have pitched
in to assist with the clean up and the start to provide temporary housing. One of our members, World Wide Safety, who has offices both in Hawaii and on the Mainland, put out the call for emergency supplies to the large ex-pat community in the Las Vegas area and the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. To date, we have shipped 4 containers of supplies to our faith-based partners on Maui for distribution to those who are the most in need. A large part of the shipping costs have been covered by donations from other ABC Chapters around the country with over $22,000.00 being donated through the ABC Cares website. As the full extent of the damage continues to be revealed, ABC Hawaii will continue to support our Maui family to the greatest extent possible and we encourage everyone in our industry to continue to help support those in need.
Representing 65.6% of all of the State of Hawaii licensed contractors, the Associated Builders and Contractors Hawaii Chapter has been serving Hawaii’s merit shop contractors with 33-years of service and would like to extend a warm felt ‘Mahalo and Congratulations’ to our dedicated members for their years of continued membership! They know a good thing when they see it and we are proud to have them as members. Without the continued support of all our valued members , the voice of the merit shop contractor’s philosophy in the state of Hawaii would only be a whisper.
