Una antigua y señorial casona inserta en el Barrio Lastarria fue restaurada y renovada como galería boutique, donde convergen locales comerciales, espacios recreativos, cafetería y terraza, con un patio posterior como núcleo central articulador. Se buscó mantener el espíritu original representado en su imponente fachada de época. An old and stately mansion inserted in the Lastarria Neighborhood was restored and renovated as a boutique gallery, where commercial premises, recreational spaces, a cafeteria and a terrace converge, with a backyard as a central articulating core. The design sought to keep the original spirit represented in its imposing period façade.
La construcción del edificio que hoy alberga la Galería Lastarria data de 1923. El proyecto original, del arquitecto V. Salas Rodríguez, comprendía tres viviendas, dos ubicadas en el segundo nivel y la de mayor tamaño en el primero. Sigue el estilo de otras edificaciones de la época, con ricas terminaciones y bonita fachada. El segundo piso fue modificado en 1990 para oficinas y en 1994 el inmueble se habilitó como establecimiento educacional. Pese a las modificaciones, conservó su estructura original, muros de albañilería y adobe, envigado de roble y fachada.
The building that today houses the Lastarria Gallery dates from 1923. The original project, by architect V. Salas Rodríguez, comprised three houses, two located on the second level and the larger one on the first. It followed the style of other buildings of the time, with rich finishes and a beautiful façade. The second floor was modified in 1990 for offices and in 1994 the property was set up as an educational establishment. In spite of the modifications, it kept its original structure, walls of masonry and adobe, oak beams and façade.
