Arquitecta y magíster en Arquitectura PUC (2000), sus primeros años de trabajo fueron en la oficina de Sebastián Irarrázaval (“mi escuela”) y en FG Arquitectos, para luego desarrollar proyectos propios como AVON Arquitectos. Algunos encargos en el sur le dieron el impulso para dejar definitivamente Santiago, convencida de las ventajas para su vida y para el rumbo que quería dar a su carrera. Atraída por las características de la arquitectura rural tanto como las del paisaje, se dedicó a recorrer, observar y entender la lógica de la construcción de los galpones sureños típicos que tanto la maravillaban. Y en una relación indisoluble, surgió también su amor por la madera y su uso en las construcciones locales. “La observación me mostró desde dónde diseñar. Podría haber seguido haciendo casas mediterráneas, pero sentí que debía ajustarme y reconocer lo que aquí había: elementos como los techos a dos aguas, madera y mano de obra calificada en trabajarla”. Así nació el proyecto Serie Casas Galpón, que inició con su propia vivienda el año de su llegada y que ‘explotó’ hace alrededor de cuatro años: son una treintena las viviendas diseñadas, 20 construidas, siete en construcción y otras tantas en proceso de diseño, frente a lagos y ríos de la región. La más grande de 560 m²; de 60 m² la más pequeña. Todas en madera y algunas en madera reciclada, material que la apasiona. Su sello y su trabajo ya son reconocidos y actualmente desarrolla su mayor proyecto hasta ahora: un hotel boutique en el río Maullín, siempre en concepto de galpón. “Esta pertenencia al paisaje, la riqueza de las relaciones espaciales que permite las proporciones del volumen en su interior, así como la eficiencia constructiva de un oficio originario del sur de Chile como es el uso de la madera, me llamaron la atención como características a explorar en el diseño de viviendas en este territorio”. With a bachelor’s and master’s degree in architecture from Universidad Católica (2000), her first work years were spent at the office of Sebastián Irarrázaval (“my school”) and in FG Arquitectos, to later develop her own projects as AVON Arquitectos. Several commissions in the south gave her the impetus to finally leave Santiago, convinced of the advantages for her personal life and in tune with the direction she wanted to give her career. Attracted by the features of rural architecture as well as the landscape, she devoted herself to walking, observing and understanding the logic of construction of the typical southern sheds that amazed her so much. And in an unbreakable connection, her love for wood and its use in local buildings. “Observation showed me from where to start designing. I could have continued making Mediterranean houses, but I felt that I had to adjust and recognize what was already here: elements such as gable roofs, wood and the necessary skilled labor”. This is how the Galpón Houses Series project was born, which began with her own home the year of her arrival and that 'exploded' about four years ago: there are some thirty designed homes, 20 built, seven under construction and many others in the design process, facing the lakes and rivers of the region, with areas that range from 560 sqm to 60 sqm. All in wood and some in recycled wood, a material that has become her passion. Her seal and her work are already recognized, and she is currently developing her biggest project so far: a boutique hotel on the Maullín River, always with the concept of a shed. “This belonging to the landscape, the richness of the interior spatial relationships allowed by the proportions of the volume, as well as the constructive efficiency of a trade originating in southern Chile such as the use of wood, were brought to my attention as features to explore in the design of houses in this territory.”

El trabajo corresponde a una reinterpretación de la tipología de los antiguos galpones de guarda del sur de Chile para ser utilizada como diseño de vivienda. Desperdigadas en el territorio sureño, estas construcciones son parte del imaginario colectivo del paisaje rural y destacan por las proporciones de los volúmenes que se levantan sobre el horizonte, la geometría de formas puras y rectas en contraste con la naturaleza y la nobleza de la madera utilizada como estructura y revestimiento.
The work corresponds to a reinterpretation of the typology of the old storage sheds of southern Chile to be used as housing design. Spread out in the southern territory, these constructions are part of the collective imagination of the rural landscape and stand out for the proportions of the volumes that rise above the horizon, the geometry of pure and straight forms in contrast with nature, and the nobility of the wood used as structure and cladding.

Apuesta radical fue la que hizo el año 2011 cuando decidió radicarse y abrir su oficina en Puerto Varas, desde donde se ha ganado reconocimiento por sus Casas Galpón, una serie de proyectos fruto de la observación e investigación. From a radical move in 2011 when she decided to settle and open her office in Puerto Varas, she has gained recognition for her Galpón (shed) Houses, a series of projects resulting from observation and research.
