Una piel de madera de pino que dialoga con el jardín consolida el límite y favorece esta permeabilidad interior-exterior, independizando el carácter público de las oficinas con el privado de la residencia. La piel se adapta a las condiciones topográficas del jardín y al paisajismo existente, y unifica los nuevos volúmenes construidos para cumplir con las nuevas necesidades programáticas. La geometría del límite resultante crece en espesor para convertirse en habitable y formar nuevos espacios que cualifican el edificio entre el interior y exterior. Este espacio intermedio conecta el interior de las oficinas con zonas del jardín, que va cambiando según estacionalidad y usos. Estos patios actúan de forma pasiva en el acondicionamiento climático de las oficinas. Hacia la Av. Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins se sitúa el Espacio Cultural Thiago de
Mello, que funciona como un límite que enmarca el Palacio. Se respeta la envolvente existente sin alterar su función escénica en el acceso y se vacía su interior. La acción de des-densificar el muro hace posible apropiarse de un lugar sin inventarse un material. El espesor se habita al introducir una estructura metálica blanca que se diferencia y se separa de lo existente para albergar el nuevo uso cultural. A pine wood skin that interacts with the garden consolidates the boundary and favors this interior-exterior permeability, making the public character of the offices independent of the residence. The skin adapts to the topographical conditions of the garden and to the existing landscaping, and unifies the new volumes built to meet the new programmatic needs. grows in thickness to become habitable and form new spaces that characterize the building between interior and exterior. This intermediate space connects the interior of the offices with areas of the garden, which changes according to seasonality and uses. These courtyards act passively in the climate conditioning of the offices. Towards Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins Avenue is the Thiago de Mello Cultural Space, which functions as a limit that frames the Palace. The existing envelope is respected without altering its scenic function in the access and its interior is emptied. The action of de-densifying the wall makes it possible to appropriate a place without inventing a material. The thickness is inhabited by introducing a white metal structure that differentiates and separates itself from the existing building, to house the new cultural use.
