El arquitecto chileno y representante de la AOA en los Países Bajos desarrolló este importante proyecto urbano que rescató y transformó un monumento nacional –la estación del viaducto Hofplein de Rotterdam– en un espacio de uso público. El proyecto se desarrolló en dos etapas. The Chilean architect and representative of the AOA in the Netherlands developed this important urban project that recovered and transformed a national monument –the station of the Hofplein viaduct in Rotterdam– into a space for public use. The project was developed in two stages.
La Estación de Hofplein en Rotterdam –declarada monumento nacional el 2002– forma parte de los 1,9 km de longitud del viaducto ferroviario Hofplein, construido entre 1905 y 1908 como un enlace ferroviario alternativo de Rotterdam a Scheveningen y que fue la primera vía aérea ferroviaria de esas dimensiones construida completamente en hormigón armado. A comienzos de 2006, las asociaciones de vivienda Rotterdam Havensteder y Vestia (unidas en Hofbogen BV) adquirieron el viaducto para devolverle su antigua gloria. The Hofplein Station in Rotterdam –declared a national monument in 2002– forms part of the 1.9 km long Hofplein railway viaduct, built between 1905 and 1908 as an alternative rail link from Rotterdam to Scheveningen and which was the first elevated railway of these dimensions completely built in reinforced concrete. At the beginning of 2006, housing associations Rotterdam Havensteder and Vestia (joined as Hofbogen BV) acquired the viaduct to restore its former glory.
