La primera fase de su transformación a gran escala fue el proyecto Mini Mall, compacto centro comercial para emprendedores del área del diseño realizado en 2011 por Peña Architecture & AFARAI. Para el proyecto, se renovaron y transformaron los primeros siete arcos de la estación, lo que significó aplicar innovadoras tecnologías constructivas. Se realizó un nuevo diseño, la fachada se pintó bajo las directrices que rigen para las edificaciones patrimoniales y se habilitó el sector comercial. El complejo se abrió desde la calle al patio central, agregando una nueva pasarela al espacio público. El conjunto de operaciones devolvió visibilidad a la Estación Hofplein, hoy un activo polo gracias a sus tiendas de diseño independiente, eventos, festivales de arte y audaces iniciativas. El éxito de la primera fase continuó con la restauración de los diez arcos restantes. Se utilizó el mismo enfoque, pero esta vez los espacios debieron hundirse para poder llevar los equipos e insumos necesarios para la construcción (electricidad, agua, ventilación, etc.). Además de reforzar la impermeabilización del techo, la fachada fue íntegramente restaurada en consulta con la Oficina Nacional del Patrimonio Cultural, conservándose los revestimientos de madera y restaurando la ornamentación original.
The first phase of its large-scale transformation was the Mini Mall project, a compact shopping center for entrepreneurs in the design field, carried out in 2011 by Peña Architecture & AFARAI. For the project, the first seven arches of the station were renovated and transformed, which meant applying innovative construction technologies. A new design was made, the facade was painted under the guidelines that regulate heritage buildings and the commercial venues were habilitated. The complex opened the central courtyard to the street, adding a new walkway to the public space. The set of operations restored visibility to the Hofplein Station, today an active hub thanks to its independent design stores, events, art festivals and bold initiatives. The success of the first phase continued with the restoration of the ten remaining arches. The same approach was used, but this time the spaces had to be sunken to give way to the equipment and supplies necessary for construction (electricity, water, ventilation, etc.). In addition to reinforcing the waterproofing of the roof, the facade was completely restored in consultation with the National Office of Cultural Heritage, preserving the wood paneling and restoring the original ornamentation.
