Esta casa refugio debía albergar la vida familiar tanto en invierno –para ir al centro de esquí Corralco– como en verano, como base para recorrer los parques nacionales de la zona. Uno de los desafíos era integrar el paisaje natural al refugio, para lo cual se optó por diseñar un solo volumen compacto, de líneas simples y limpias, suspendido sobre una losa de hormigón despegada del suelo. Esta altura permite que la casa funcione sin problemas a lo largo del año, "flotando" sobre el terreno con vegetación. El volumen de un piso con una mansarda habitable se perfora solo con un techo horizontal para acoger por un lado el acceso a la casa y por el opuesto la salida a la terraza. Las fachadas principales y las laterales se perforan con ventanas que animan el interior con vistas y luz. La estructura de toda la casa es de pino, la cual se rigidiza con dos muros de hormigón armado. La techumbre, también de pino, se apoya sobre grandes vigas de roble 6x12" que recorren la casa. This shelter was to house family life both in winter –near the Corralco ski center– and summer, as a base to tour the national parks of the area. One of the challenges was to integrate the natural landscape into the refuge, for which it was designed as a single compact volume with simple and clean lines, sitting on a concrete slab detached from the ground. This elevation allows the house to operate smoothly throughout the year, "floating" over the landscaped grounds. The one-story volume with a habitable mansard is perforated with a horizontal roof which accommodates the access to the house on one side and the exit to the terrace on the other. The principal and lateral façades are pierced with windows that provide the interior spaces with views and light. The structure of the whole house is pine timber, reinforced with two concrete walls. The roof, also of pine, rests on large 6x12" oak beams that run through the house.
