CONCURSO COMPETITION TEATRO DE LAS ARTES DE PANGUIPULLI PANGUIPULLI THEATER OF THE ARTS
La Corporación de Adelanto de Panguipulli y la AOA organizaron el concurso de anteproyectos para el Teatro de las Artes de Panguipulli, al cual se presentaron 35 propuestas de gran calidad y originalidad desarrolladas por importantes oficinas de arquitectura. The Panguipulli Development Corporation and the AOA organized a preliminary project competition for the Panguipulli Theater of the Arts, which received 35 proposals of great quality and originality developed by important architectural studios. El recinto fue pensado como lugar de difusión de las actividades artísticas que desarrolla la Casona Cultural de Panguipulli y donde se concentrarán los talleres de distintas especialidades. Se desarrollará en dos etapas, para totalizar alrededor de 1.310 m² construidos en un emplazamiento de 3.000 m² a orillas del lago sureño. La convocatoria de carácter abierto y público recibió 35 propuestas, entre las cuales se impuso la de los arquitectos Tomás Villalón, Nicolás Norero y Leonardo Quinteros, un proyecto considerado por el jurado como "absolutamente notable, muy polémico y radical, tomando prestados elementos exteriores, el pueblo y el lago". El certamen fue dirigido por Yves Besançon y el jurado fue integrado por Alfredo Cruz, Cristóbal Molina, Gonzalo Espinoza, Pablo Larraín, Enrique Browne, Claudio Oliva, Mario Venegas, Aníbal Montero, Jaime Bellolio, Ivonne Reifschneider, Carlos Alberto Urzúa y Juan Sabbagh. The venue was conceived as a place for the dissemination of artistic activities developed by the Casona Cultural of Panguipulli where workshops for different crafts will be held. The building will be developed in two stages to reach 1,310 sqm built on a 3,000 sqm site on the shores of the southern lake. The public tender received 35 proposals, among which the one by architects Tomás Villalón, Nicolás Norero and Leonardo Quinteros won the competition. The project was considered by the jury as "absolutely remarkable, very controversial and radical, borrowing external elements, as well as from the village and the lake". The competition was led by Yves Besançon and the jury was composed of Alfredo Cruz, Cristóbal Molina, Gonzalo Espinoza, Pablo Larraín, Enrique Browne, Claudio Oliva, Mario Venegas, Aníbal Montero, Jaime Bellolio, Ivonne Reifschneider, Carlos Alberto Urzúa and Juan Sabbagh.

Un teatro se entiende comúnmente como una pieza ciega y oscura, un vacío excavado en medio de la masa edificada que ha estado oculto como expresión de arquitectura. El teatro para Panguipulli supone de este vacío un cofre con un valor en sí mismo, un interior que se refugia tras un tejido de madera. A theater has been commonly understood as a blind and dark room, a void excavated from the middle of a building mass, hidden as an expression of architecture. The theater for Panguipulli understands this emptiness as a treasure chest with value in itself, an interior that takes refuge inside a wood-laced volume.
