Alumnos Students: María Francisca Aguirre, Alejandra Martí, Tomás Fraga + ABWB El kikapu es la artesanía más característica del pueblo ruandés, un canasto elaborado con fibras vegetales envueltas en hilo y que gira sobre un eje generando un vacío. Sus características formales están presentes tanto en las viviendas locales como en los sistemas de cultivo. La estrategia empleada corresponde a la deconstrucción del kikapu desde su base, desarrollando dos recorridos helicoidales que se adaptan a la pendiente y representan el recorrido de la fe. La planta proyectual posee dos accesos, uno más amplio para la peregrinación en masa y otro más acotado para la ascensión individual; ambos convergen en un espacio monumental concéntrico de planta libre, un vacío central que se va reduciendo hacia arriba para rematar en una perforación que se contrapone a una gran fuente de agua, jerarquizando la luz y el agua como máximos elementos sacros. The Kikapu is the most characteristic handicraft of the Rwandan people, a basket made with vegetal fibers wrapped in yarn that rotates on an axis generating a void. Its shape is present in both traditional housing and farming systems. The design strategy corresponds to the deconstruction of the Kikapu from its base, developing two helical routes that adapt to the slope and represent the path of faith. The project layout has two entrances, a larger one for the massive pilgrimage and another more restrained for the individual ascent; both converge in a monumental concentric space with an open plan, a central void that tapers towards the sky to end in a opening that counterpoints a large water source, defining light and water as the maximum sacred elements.
