Un material resalta sobre todos: la tierra y el barro se imponen en la cultura, presente en viviendas y en ritos, en los rostros pintados. Ruanda, país lluvioso, húmedo… Agua en abundancia y, al mismo tiempo, un bien escaso por su falta de pureza. Largos recorridos diarios para obtenerla, cargándola sobre las cabezas durante kilómetros, contenida en vasijas de cerámica provenientes de la misma tierra. El cuenco como forma de volver a las raíces, estar en contacto con la tierra, sumergirse en ella. Al mismo tiempo, contenedor de algo valioso y vital: el agua protegida por la materia prima, una cerámica hecha de barro.
