El Edificio Principal, es un volumen de 290.40 mt. de largo 56.40 mt. de ancho y 9.00 mt. de alto, al cual se anexan dos Espigones que avanzan hacia el campo de aterrizaje, los cuales tienen cada uno 18 mt. de ancho, 145 mt. de largo y 4.50 mt. de alto; hacia la zona de estacionamiento sale de este Edificio Principal, un Puente de peatones que une la mezzanine con la Plaza en la cual se encuentra la fuente luminosa de cristales. En ellos se realiza las funciones específicas del Terminal de Pasajeros y constan de dos niveles: Primer Piso y Mezzanine en el caso del primero y de Primer Piso y Terraza en el de los segundos. Descripción de la estructura La estructura del Terminal de Pasajeros del Aeropuerto Internacional Lima-Callao, "Jorge Chávez" se caracteriza por el empleo, sin precedentes, del concreto pretensado; constituyendo la principal aplicación de este material en obras de su tipo en el mundo y la principal utilización del concreto pretensado para cualquier tipo de obra en el Perú. El concreto pretensado es el material más novedoso de la ingeniería estructural moderna.
The Main Building is a volume of 290.40 mt. long, 56.40 mt. wide and 9.00 mt. high, to which two terminals are annexed that advance towards the landing field, each one of which is 18 mt. wide, 145 mt. long and 4.50 mt. high; towards the parking area, a pedestrian bridge connects the mezzanine with the Plaza where the luminous crystal fountain is loca- ted and emerges from the Main Building. They perform the specific functions of the Passenger Terminal and consist of two levels: the First Floor and Mezzanine in the case of the first one and the First Floor and Terrace in the case of the second one. The structure´s description The structure of the Passenger Terminal of the Lima-Callao International Airport, "Jorge Chávez" is characterized by the unprecedented use of pre-stressed concrete; which is the main use of this material in projects of this type in the world and the main use of pre-stressed concrete for any type of work in Peru. Pre-stressed concrete is the newest material in modern structural engineering.
