DEUX GROSSES DÉFAITES POUR LES HAWKS DE HAWKESBURY

Les Hawks ont subi deux grosses défaites contre les Lumber Kings de Pembroke et contre les Grads de Navan. L’équipe a vécu une soirée difficile le vendredi 8 mars, au complexe sportif Robert Hartley, subissant une défaite de 6-1 contre les Lumber Kings de Pembroke. Brendan Browne a donné l’avance 1-0 aux Lumber Kings avec son but à 19:59 de la première période. Les Lumber Kings sont ensuite reve- nus en feu pour la deuxième période. Brady Egan et Jared Weber ont chacun marqué un but pour Pembroke dans les premières cinq minutes de la deuxième. Alex DiCarlo a maintenu le rythme de son équipe en marquant dans les 20 secondes qui ont suivi le début de la troisième période. Les Lumber Kings ont donc pris l’avance 4-0 contre les Hawks. Connor Warnholtz a ensuite ajouté l’insulte à la blessure avec son but, le cinquième pour les Lumber Kings, à 5 :22 de la troisième. Finalement, à 10 :42, Matt Gasuik a marqué un but pour les Hawks, portant le pointage à 5-1. DiCarlo a ensuite marqué son deuxième but de la soirée, finalisant le score de ce match 6-1 pour Pembroke. Le gardien de but des Hawks, Matthew Petizian, gardait le filet et a réussi à arrêter 21 tirs au but. Brennan Kitchen, le gardien de but des Lumber Kings, a été nommé première étoile du match. The Cougars beat the Rangers 5-2 in the opening game of the series March 9 at the Cardinal Arena. Hugo Blanchard and Trystan Lavoie both punched in a pair of goals for Vankleek Hill with Jonathan Lacroix tallying a single. ssisting on the goals were Blanchard, Samuel Lacroix, Nicolas Castonguay, and Jacob Trempe. Frederick Durocher and Alexander Labrèche took turns guarding the net. Scoring for South Grenville were Cameron Dillon and Mathieu Giroux. Assisting on the goals was Braydan Forestall. Lee Spurgeon was in the net. Next games in the series schedule between the Cougars and Rangers are March 12 at the Cardinal Arena, and March 12 and 15 at the Vankleek Hill Arena. If necessary, the series may continue on to March 16 at the Cardinal Arena, March 17 at Vankleek Hill, and March 19 back at the Cardinal Arena. The Hawkesbury Hawks are coming off two big defeats, losing 6-1 against the Pembroke Lumber Kings and being shut out 4-0 against the Navan Grads. They remain in second place of their division, behind the Ottawa Junior Senators. They will play against their Ottawa rivals on Wednesday, March 13 and Friday, March 15 against the Cornwall Colts. —archives

VANKLEEK HILL COUGARS GET QUICK LEAD ON SOUTH GRENVILLE RANGERS

Kyle Green, Zack Lugli, and Vincent Martel scored singles for the home team. Assisting on the goal- scoring were Patrick Lemay, Nathan Melée, and Sam Paquette, with Corey Camirand guarding the net. Scoring for the Rockets was Kyle Collette, with help from Cameron Brown and Justin Lefebvre. Reilly Tondreau was in the net. The following Saturday at the Chesterville Arena, the Rockets got their first win in the series, 6-2, against the Castors. Clarence Creek goals came from Samuel Gaudet and Étienne Pease-Agius, with assists from Patrick Lemay, Vincent Martel, Nathan Melée, and Raphaël Payant, with Camirand in the goal. Kyle Collette punched in a pair of goals for North Dundas. Scoring singles were McKay Balaton, Cameron Brown, Justin Lefebvre, and Connor Roth. Assisting on the goals were Brown, Lefebvre, Roth, Tanner Barnett, Matthew Cowley, Hugo Lusignan, Brad Nash, Bradley Stitt, Jack van Kessel, and Jarrett Williams. Reilly Tondreau guarded the net. Sunday afternoon, back at the Clarence Creek Arena, the Castors clipped the Rockets again 4-2 with a pair of goals from Zack Lugli
Les Cougars de Vankleek Hill ont bien commencé leur série de demi-finales contre les Rangers de South Grenville. Les Cougars ont battu les Rangers 5-2 samedi soir à l’aréna de Cardinal.
