Join us for an Author Series in Arlington with John Lawson, author of Kurtz: Annie Kurtz joins the Marines, makes a split-second decision her superiors never wanted her to make, and wrestles with whether she should have followed her orders or her conscience. Nick Willard has pined for Annie since they were both prep school students. After he becomes a successful journalist, he discovers that America’s war in Afghanistan has changed the schoolgirl he deified. Their story explores the tensions between love and friendship, and those between morality and law. Nick and Annie come of age, and they suffer the psychological traumas that result when war makers sweep reality under a rug of ridiculous details. Five local authors will be bringing their heartwarming stories to a Pal-entine’s Day author event. Meet the authors: - Barbara Boehm Miller, When You See Her - Carolyn McBride, The Cicada Spring, Santa Overboard - Christine Gunderson, Friends with Secrets - Jennifer Milder, The Epilogue of August - Sharon J. Wishnow, The Pelican Tide Each book shares a common thread of women navigat- ing complex relationships, personal growth, and societal expectations, delving into themes of identity, resilience, and the enduring power of human connections. After their talk the authors will be selling and signing copies of their books. They will be donating 15% of the evening’s sales to Second Story a local organization that helps transform the lives of children, youth and their families by providing safe havens and opportunities to grow and thrive.

Family Trivia Night

Saturday, 8 February from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM 5 Star Ballroom Join us for our first Family Trivia Night at ANCC Arlington! Trivia Hosts, Jonathan Sands & Jeff Shelton, will quiz teams on a variety of family-friendly topics. Questions will be appropriate for children age 8+. Buffet opens at 6:00pm, Trivia begins at 6:30pm $27 Adults | $17 Children 5-11 (Price includes a family-themed dinner buffet and inclusion into the trivia competition) Maximum of 6 per team.
