EVANGELISM AND THE SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD by J. I. Packer. 126 pages; paper; Inter- Varsity Press, Chicago; $1.25. Three factors impinge upon one another in this book: God's sovereignty, man's responsibility, and the Chris­ tian's evangelistic responsibility. He concludes that belief in the sovereignty of God is essen­ tial to effective evangelism. THE SHEPHERD OF THE STARS by Charles A. Trentham. 172 pages; cloth; Broadman Presi, Nashville; $2.95. Twenty-eight studies in the Epistle to the Colossians by the pastor of the First Baptist Church, Knoxville, Tenn. The title reference is to Christ, who holds the seven stars in His hand. There is a good deal of application to present-day situations and events in the book. ALWAYS IN CHRIST by Marie C. Turk. 104 pages; cloth; Concordia Publishing House, St. Louis; $2.00. Poems out of a life of deep de­ votion and prayer, some of which have hymnal quality. There is good variety, and they reveal a firm grasp of God's grace. AND GOD WANTS PEOPLE by Mary Lou Lacy. 80 pages; cloth; John Knox Press, Ricnmond, Va.; $2.00. A book on human relations based on a genuine sympathy for one another and appreci­ ation of the vertical relationship with Gocf.
