“On November 27, 2016, I had a head-on collision. I was expected to pass away. The doctors told me I wasn’t supposed to make it through the night but I did. The injuries were intense. My pelvis was shattered, 9 ribs on my left side were broken (one of those had punctured my lung), nerve damage to my left shoulder and my diaphragm had been ripped open. I was on a ventilator. A month passed by and I came off the ventilator. Things slowly started looking up for me. I was moved from the ICU at UAMS to long-term care at Baptist December 14, 2016. January 19, 2017, I got to leave the hospital. I was starting to gain some movement back on my left side. Fast forward to when I started therapy. I came to ProMotion Physical Therapy on February 7, 2017 ready to start my road to recovery. I was in a wheelchair. Two weeks after starting my therapy I was doing so well I ditched my wheelchair. I was noticing things getting easier. I was able to get in and out of the car, I started driving, going to church, and grocery shopping. Everything was getting easier. I was gaining lots of energy back, too. About a month later I ditched my walker. Today, I am walking by myself with lots of strength and confidence.
