for a sign upon thfne hand . . . write them upon the posts of thy house" (vs. 6-9). As ..I have been reading these familiar verses again, I have been deeply impressed by t h e ,five fold duty laid upon the Christian home in relation to the Word of God. First, the parents should have this Word of God in their own hearts. Second, they should teach the Word to their children. This important busi ness cannot be safely left to others. Third, the Word of God should occupy the first place in the conversation that goes on in the home, and enter somehqw into all the various activi ties of the home. Fourth, in their very personal appearance and de meanor, the parents should be able to convey to their children a testi mony to the Word of God. Fifth, even the houses that we live in should somehow bear witness to the fact that we believe in the Word- of God.' The Philadelphia Ledger prints this incident concerning Mrs. Jules Ash land. She had been troubled for a long time because her pretty three- year-old daughter Marie had never uttered a word that any one could understand. The little one jabbered all the time, but everything she said was unintelligible. Mrs. Ashland was an invalid and had never been much in the baby’s company. Her husband was a traveling man and was away from home most of the:'time; so it was that little Marie had spent all of her three years under the care of a nurse girl. A throat specialist who was sum moned to examine Marie happened to understand the Finnish language, and the first thing that he heard upon entering the house was little Marie delivering a tirade in. that language against her m o t h e r because she wouldn’t talk to her. The doctor soon understood the trouble. The nurse was a Finnish girl and had always talked to the baby in the Finnish language, and that was the tongue that little Marie had learned. There is a lesson of wonderful sug gestiveness in this incident. Christian parents must begin early if they would teach their children their own “ lan guage” in respect to moral and spirit ual matters.—Adapted from The Bot tles of Heaven, by Revilo. placed on the inside of this coil, while connected to the electric current, will become magnetized. Wrap the coil with adhesive tape. Print the word “CHRIST” on the coil. A doorbell transformer connected to the electric- current would serve the same pur pose as the batteries. Before the les son, magnetize the large scissors and the large drill by putting them inside the coil.) LESSON: Mr. Drill has a magnetic- power and is using it to bring his son, Bill Drill, to Christ. You will notice that Bill, apart from his father, has no magnetic power. [Break the contact and show how the small drill cannot lift a small nail.] Mr. Drill is wise in that he re members Proverbs -22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” The best training a child can have is t.o become saved by' con tacting Christ. Mr. Drill continues bringing Bill to Christ. [Place the small drill in the coil.] Bill now be comes magnetized and can lift thé nail which he could not before. Mrs. Scissors follows the example of Mr. Drill and brings her daughter, Susie Scissors, to Christ. Susie re ceives a magnetism which never leaves her. She can now lift this needle. Eunice, the mother of Timothy, was a woman of faith, and she taught hei son to have faith in Christ (2 Tim. 1:5). Paul wrote to Timothy saying, “But continue t h o u in the things which thou -hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; and that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto s a l v a t i o n through faith which is in Christ Je sus” (2 Tim. 3:14, 15). Wise parents today will bring their children to Christ.

ing a happy home always. The Lord knew that these people might forget how He had delivered them from all their troubles - in Egypt,. and how, whenever they had obeyed His com mands, they had been blessed. Of course, the older people- among them would not forget. They had been present when the Lord'had led them safely between the waUs of. water in the Red Sea, had delivered them from Wicked Pharaoh, and had fed them with manna. But the younger ones, those who. had been just babies while all this was going on, could not know how wonderful the Lord' had .been to them unless the story of His goad- • ness would be told to them again and again and to their children, too. * God said something like this to the people: “This is the secret, Israel, if you want to be truly happy and to have a happy home. Love Me with all your heart. Love My commands, too—‘ and that should not be hard when you remember how good they always have been for you. Love them so much that you w ill think of them when you sit in the house, or when you walk along the road, or when you lie in bed at night.” God’s secret is for us today as well as for Israel. Have you tried it?
