gave; half-dead, being now spiritual ly dead and with physical death al ready at work in him. The “priest,” representing the moral law, and the “Levite,” thé ceremonial law, came, looked, passed by. But “what the law could not do,” Christ did. He saved, restored the doomed 'man. Christ is the “Good Samaritan,” pouring oil and wine into his wounds, taking him to a dwelling place, paying his debt, and arranging for his future needs. Truly the good Samaritan was friend to the needy man by the road. God means us to be friends to those who need us. Have we ignored our Latin-American friends?. I. MEETING OUR FRIENDS. “Meeting” implies “going to.” We “go to meet” ope who “comes to meet” us, -suggesting reciprocity. We may also go to meet some ope who is un aware of our existence or who cannot come to meet us, as Christ's coming “to seek and to save that which was lost”—His meeting Zaccheus, Mat thew, James and John, blind Barti- meus. A friend, whether sick or well, in, dress clothes or greasy overalls, is still our friend and has our affection and respect. True friends endeavor to please and to avoid hurting , each other. Recognizing each other’s faults, they overlook these and dwell upon their virtues. ft. HELPING OUR FRIENDS. The United States was beaten and robbed on December 7, 1941, by the host of “violence worshipers.” Latin Americans sprang to our side, proving themselves true friends. Consider our duty to them. We need their material help in our material “war for sur viva l.” Yet the visible war is but the phenomenon of an invisible, spiritual conflict.. In this they need our help. Are we proving true friends? Are we providing for their spiritual needs? Only through the Word of God can they have salvation, for “faith cometh by hearing . . . the word of God” (Rom. 10:17). Their armor of defense, weapons of offense (Eph. 6:10-18). source of strength, assurance of vic tory-rail are in the Word. Have we provided them these indispensables by giving them the Word? In Mexico over fifty tribes have not the Word in their own language! La borers in twenty of these tribes are translating the Word. What of the other, thirty and more? What of the many tribes in Central a n d South America? They look to us. But above their expectancy upon ps, is our re sponsibility before God for their hear ing. To all comes Christ’s adriionition, “Pray ye” tLk. 10:2). To some comes His further command, “Go ye” (Matt. 28:18-20). A n d as the Philippians For Those Who Have Topics

were led to give to Paul, so many who are not called to go will be led to give. By praying, giving, going, we can help our friends. III. LOVING OUR FRIENDS. “Love . . . thy neighbor as thyself" (Lk. 10:27). Love must be based on
