How many young people In your so ciety really sacrifice to introduce an other to the Lord Jesus Christ? How many take time from recreationv-or pleasure to ■win a friend to Christ? What have they gone without in order to maintain a spotless witness before the questioning eyes of an observer? As Christians, we must-be ready to s u f f e-r inconvénience to help the “weak”' rather- than merely ourselves. II. UNITY MAY BE ATTAINED BY SYMPATHY (vs. 2, 3). Paul is nqt teaching here that the believer is to compromise, but that he is to sympathize. We must pray that God will help us to do as Ezekiel did, who ■“ sat where they sat.” We need the gift of constant concern for others, that we may be a spiritual blessing and encouragement to them. Let us practice the sympathetic heard; III. UNITY MAY BE ATTAINED BY STUDY (V . 4). Unity is'secured also if every mem ber of the organization Regulates his activity by a common rule book. The Bible is the Christian’s rule book; it •is his guide and his light. Without it he is helpless, but with it he is jnighty. . . . . IV. UNITY M A Y BE ATTAINED BY . SINGLENESS OF H E A R T AND ; PURPOSE (v. 6). .,\\ j The great purpose of thé child of God could not be set forth in a Clearer way than it is in the answer to the first question of the Shorter Cate chism, “What is the chief end of man?” “Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy .Him forever.” In much of our service we have ulterior motives. We servè Christ to be looked at,-or to be admired, or to get personal satisfaction.- Let us obey the command of the apostle in T Corinthians 10:31, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink,* or whatsoever ye do, do all. to the glory of God.’’. May our desire be to live and to serve for His glory; then it is that unity w ill be fostered in the church, V. UNITY M A Y BE ATTAINED BY SOLICITING THE FRIENDSHIP OF OTHERS (v. ,7). How often in your group have you noticed a tendency to snobbishness? This is not the mind of Christ. Ex-: clusivisrri is not evangelism; therefore ^‘receive ye one another, as Christ also received us, to the glory of God."

mutual understanding, •respect,' and good will. We cannot “ l o v e” one) whom we do not knpw, one for whom we do not hold respect, one whom we treat with an attitude of mere tolera tion and condescension. We learn in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 that love is mani fest by kindness and long-suffering, by putting aside envy, pride,'self-ex altation, and boasting; by seeking our friends’ good instead of our bwn ad vancement at their expense. “L o v e NEVER faileth” ! • St)cial service—the sharing of medi cines, machines, dollars, and discov eries-—is not enough. We must give them God’s Word that they may know the living Christ, When our Latin American friends know Him, we can meet them on new. ground/ that of fellowship in Him (1 John 1:3), and can look forward to that heavenly “meeting” when s o m e from every tribe, and tongue, and nation shall sing the praises of the Lamb who saved us and loosed us from our sins in His own blood. NOVEMBER 22, .1942 YOUTH ’S CALL TO YOUTH R omans 15 :l-7- By Chester Padgett Introduction Is your Christian friend having a struggle with, some besetting sin, a ‘ sin over which you have gained the mastery? Do not belittle him or look down on him. It is not your, place to judge; rather, you should receive him' as a brother for whom Christ died, and, by your example, help him' to overcome his difficulty (cf. Rom. 14). Christian love, m q t Lv a t i rt g the church, will aid to unite all believers regardless of their denominational af filiation. Youth’s call to youth today is a call for unity, a call for Chris tian young people who' n a m e the name of Christ, do forget small and relatively -unimportant diff e f . enc e s , and to join under pne banner the army set for the defense of the gospel. This is not to be an Organic union necessarily, but unity of spirit. For Those Who Have Topics I, UNITY MAY BE ATTAINED BY SACRIFICE (v. 1).. It seems- to be impossible to have victory apart from sacrifice. The na tions that have been powerful out of all proportion to'* their material re sources are those nations whose peo ple have been sacrificing for the past decade or longer. They have hardened themselves to privations, not to please themselves, but to please their leader, and to serve their country. If souls are to be won for Christ, we must be willing and ready to sac rifice our time, our strength, our re sources, anything to that great end.
