Knowing that San Francisco is a key point for the coming and going of service men, particularly of those on their way to duty farther west, the Christian Business Men’s Committee of the San Francisco Bay Region has felt led to open offices where Christian service men may meet for fellowship. Located at 1123 HearSt Building, Third and Market Streets, San Francisco, the two offices are placed in charge of Bob Griffiths, formerly a missionary to Africa. Arnold Grunigeh, Jr., Chairman of the Christian Business Men’s Com mittee in the area, describes the policy thus: “Our city is well supplied with places where food and entertain ment may be obtained. After a ' careful survey,' this CBMC was satisfied that the crying need, the place for usTo fill, was to provide a Christian Headquarters for the soldiers, sailors and marines. No food, no entertainment, but a manly place, sponsored, by men, manned by men, we trust filled with men. “Attention all mothers, fathers, families of service men: Make this place known. Write men about it. A friendly greeting always awaits ‘ them. Information w ill be sup plied. We will always know of any good meetings that are going on in the Bay Region. It is our prayer that this place will be a veritable oasis. “Already -it has been filled to overflowing. Members of the Navi gators Christian Service Men (Dawson Trotman, Director), a wonderful group of Christian sail ors, have filled our modest quar ters for the past five nights. In fact, they had to repair to the building assembly room one eve ning, the crowd was so great,” Volunteers among ■the business men’s group give their time in the eve nings for keeping the offiees open. The Romance of Women Hymn Writers (A New Book by F. W. Pitt)

Christian Business Men to Assemble In Detroit Christian leaders responsible for planning worship services are often eager to find fresh material concern ing the story behind well-loved hymns. Not only is this need met in this pres ent volume, but also there is to be found a real contribution in the field of literary criticism as it relates to hymns. Careful consideration o f the basic theology in many of the songs, with a statement of the evangelical view, further enhances the value of the comments. A strong example of this treatment appears in the discus sion of “Nearer, My God, to Thee,” by Sarah Adams. 96 pages. Fundamen tal Truth Publishers, P. O. Box 388, Findlay, Ohio. Cloth.
