Yoga for school age children provides a fun and engaging way for children to practice mindfulness, body awareness, balance, strength and flexibility in a non-competitive and compassionate environment. Traditional yoga poses will be explored using child friendly language, games and traditional yoga sequencing. In addition, yoga provides children with increased focus, confidence and the ability to work through everyday frustrations in a calm manner. This spring, children will experience a sampling of subject matter. From learning about the collective artwork of children around the world, designing their own product, and creating symbolic cloth painting, to making their own block prints, learning about the collage work of Hannah Hoch, and conveying a story with images, children we will be exploring a powerfully popping palette of topics and mediums. Wanna make video games? Love building with LEGO® bricks? This club is for you. Learn how to create video games using Scratch, free software from MIT that you can use at home long after the class. Then, we’ll bring the action to life as we build and program LEGO® mini robots. If you’ve taken this course before, don’t worry! We explore different themes and make different games and robots each time. Parents, you may choose to send a USB flash drive for your student to save projects, or provide a non-school email at registration, and we’ll use it to help your student create a free online Scratch account and store projects in the cloud.
