18. 1933 Goudey #181 Babe Ruth (HOF) - PSA VG-EX 4

One of the most visually-pleasing of all Babe Ruth’s cards and the only example of the Babe’s four cards in the 1933 Goudey issue drawing his image from a different original source photo. The “Green Ruth” is notoriously found with centering issues; the presence of creamy, clean borders on all four sides of the card image in and of itself qualifies this example as “well-centered.” The card image is clean and well-registered, the colorful image dark and vibrant, the green background bold and bright. Though the card exhibits corner wear consistent with the grade, and a light roller line along the right side, overall visual appeal is exceptional. Ruth’s Goudey issues have skyrocketed as of late; this is an extremely strong specimen for the grade.

MINIMUM BID: $4,000

Midgrade example of one of the quartet of popular cards of Babe Ruth from the 1933 Goudey issue, one of the hobby’s most important and widely- collected gum card sets. Graded VG-EX 4 by SGC, the card is bright and colorful, centered to the extreme southeast on the canvas. Corner wear is consistent with the grade, more pronounced at the bottom. Some light surface wear is evident upon close examination. One of Ruth’s most beautiful and highly desirable cards in any grade. 19. 1933 Goudey #149 Babe Ruth (HOF) - SGC VG-EX 4

20. 1926 Spalding Champions Babe Ruth (HOF - 1926 Copyright) - PSA NM 7

Extremely underrated card of Babe Ruth from his prime, his smiling portrait wearing the classic Yankees pinstripes and interlocking “NY” cap. Graded NM 7 by PSA, the card is sharp and clean, with lightly- touched corners and very faint soiling conspiring to keep the card from a higher holder. Part of a large, multi-sport issue, the card is relatively scarce, with PSA having graded only 17 examples (plus two more with the 1927 copyright date), with just six higher than this. The card was

once an affordable way to latch onto a playing days card of Ruth, but today the card is beginning to escalate in price, with high-grade examples now stretching into the five figures.
