Sam Meekings is a British poet and novelist. He currently works as an assistant professor of creative writing at Northwestern University in Qatar. “I want to acknowledge the stress, anxiety and feeling of hopelessness afflicting many people during this time when we are forced to stay inside. On the other hand, I also want to highlight the overlooked joys and possibilities that are still open to us, and so to encourage a different way of looking at the current situation: one that reminds us of hope and opportunity rather than loss. The poem is an act of discovery through making seemingly disparate connections that suggest a path towards a new, different way of thinking.”
