Together Apart-(E)

So Near Yet So Far

So near yet so far. I see your faces but from a screen in my hand as I sit or lie alone. What did I believe before this? I liked my space, But now I crave the hustle and bustle of a crowded street. What I would do to be hugged by my mother. A good thing to come from this is that she now can use the phone I gifted her. So near yet so far. I miss the routine of going to work. Waking up hitting snooze, hitting it again and then rushing in. The morning drive with my playlist at full blast. Dance, dance, dance (or try not to) as I wait for the lights to change. Talking to neighbors and colleagues without a care in the world, no guilt in loitering. So near yet so far. Waiting excitedly till I can go to the grocery store … the grocery store. Being stuck at home must have a silver lining? Right? I have time to focus on me but instead I

just eat.
