COMPETITION SPECIAL REPORT

Anumeha Haldar

After weeks of careful construction and testing, the Warhawks participated in their first competition of the season at Seneca High School on March 8th and 9th. Our custom control board worked perfectly and greatly enhanced our drivers’ abilities. The robot performed consistently with no malfunctions, allowing for excellent and strategic game play. The team’s focus on a more simple yet reliable design truly paid off! The team ranked 3rd overall, allowing us to become Alliance Captain. We formed an alliance with FRC Team 10157 and 365, collectively winning 2nd place in the playoffs and becoming finalists! As we head onto the second competition at William Tennent High School, we plan on making the robot score faster by implementing new motors! The team is grateful for the several distinctions we were awarded, we are thankful to our head mentor and advisor, Mr. Kearney. We truly appreciate his hours of dedication to the team and constant support - thank you Mr. Kearney!

DISTINCTIONS

At this competition, several of our team members won many distinctions. From our 2 Dean’s List Nominees, Shridhar Garg and Jahnavi Singh, Jahnavi was selected as Dean’s List semi-finalist. Our team was recognized for the robot’s robust end effector and producing a “quality machine”, allowing the team to win the Quality Award. Anumeha Haldar, Olivia Dutta, and Namya Purani also presented the Impact Award, which requires teams to present how they are “more than robots” and their various outreach efforts. With the team’s current ranking points, the Warhawks are competitively at an edge and will compete, for the first time, at the FMA District Championship at Lehigh University in the beginning of April.
