2016 Walking Club Wrap Up

by Jamie Cooper & Erika Meiners

The look on Ruth Carter’s face, Executive Director of HOPE of Ogle County, when we told her we raised $9000 for them was worth it. Hearing that our donation would help pay for at least half of the new roof they desperately needed made all of those hot, humid and early mornings of walking or running seem easy. The money raised was earned by 300 employees participating in 5K events throughout the summer/fall and we had a record 3 Corporate Challenge wins this year (each is worth $1000!). Put that together with the registration fees paid, we put about $17,500 back into the community! The increase in participation each year, camaraderie between co-workers, and overall good that it does for local charities makes this a fun part of the job for us. We want to thank everyone who participated in the Walking Club this year – we appreciate everyone taking the time to make this group successful! The new season is right around the corner, so put on your walking shoes and let’s try to hit $10,000!
