YOUNG PEOPLE continued Jesus. In so doing he becomes really and truly free (John 8:36; Rom. 6:15-23)'. STUDY QUESTIONS 1. What does it mean that Christ is “the seed of David” ? (2 Tim. 2:8.) Was the Incarnation, that is, the virgin birth of Christ, necessary if He was to become our Saviour? (cp. Phil. 2:5-11; 2 Cor. 5:- 21; Heb. 2:9, 14, 18; 1 John 3:5; 4:2, 3.) 2. What other great central truth about Christ is taught in 2 Tim. 2:8? W hy was it necessary that Christ arise from the dead? (cp. 1 Cor. 15:1-19.) 3. What may befall the man who sin­ cerely and'wholeheartedly follows Christ? (v. 9.) • 4. What blessed truth do we learn about the Word of God in v. 9? 5. What was the crowning ambition of Paul? (v. 10.) Was this also the purpose of Jesus’ life? (cp. Luke 19:10.) 6. The New Testament teaches us that we are identified with Christ in His min­ istry on earth-—Ills death, His burial, and His resurrection, (cp. Rom. 6:1-5.) What part of His ministry does Paul deal with in 2 Tim. 2:11? 7. What is the condition of reigning with Christ? (v. 12.) See also Rom. 8:16, 17 in this connection. Study John 15:18f for further light in this matter. 8. What wonderful truth about Christ is presented in v. 13? How is Christ faith­ ful to us when we are disbelieving? What is the “ seal” that the “ foun­ dation of God standeth sure” ? (v. 19). Let us never get discouraged thinking that God has forgotten us. He knows us, He loves us, He has saved us through Christ, and He will see us through (Phil. 1:6). So let us keep on keeping on for Him. 12. What is the great obligation of every child of God according to the last sentence of v. 19? Why is this so? What sugges­ tions can you make as to how the believer may depart from iniquity? END.
