COVID THE REMEDY FOR U.S. HEALTH CARE? The global pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been devastating to the entire world. 200 million global confirmed cases and 4.2 million dead. In the U.S., 35.1 million confirmed cases have led to 614,000 deaths. And it’s likely these numbers are much higher. Of the survivors, it is estimated that a third – often referred to as “long haulers” – will continue to suffer long after testing positive. These people may continue to consume more health care resources than they would otherwise, and be less productive in their lives.
