Acton-Boxborough Annual Report 2025-26

28 | ACTON-BOXBOROUGH REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT | ANNUAL REPORT 2025–2026

Our school musical, “Seussical Jr.” was a huge success with audiences in December. We expanded our intramural sports program this year. With lots of interested students, we offered basketball, futsal, volleyball, flag football, and other activities after school. The beauty of this program is that it allows students to compete and have fun with friends without the commitment that an interscholastic team requires. This was the first year in many years that RJ Grey hosted a school-wide Spelling Bee. Dozens of students took the first assessment, leading to 15 students competing against each other in a spell-off! Adarsh Venkannagari was the RJ Grey winner. He made his way through several regional rounds, ending up at the

Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. Congratulations to Adarsh!

RJ Grey had an excellent year focused on creating a Joyful, Inclusive Community of Engaged Learn- ers . Our 817 students demonstrated care for each other and our school. RJ Grey has historically organized itself around 8 teams of students. Due to recent budget needs and declining enrollment, this was the first year we organized ourselves around only 7 teams. Teachers on the Green Teams taught students in both grades for the first time. This arrangement presented challenges at times, but we are proud to say that our students still benefited from the caring commitment of their teachers and experienced the same positive community that exists on other full-sized teams. 92% of our 7th graders reported through our annual student survey that they had a trusted adult at school. This is the highest number since we’ve collected this information.

Our Social Studies department worked this year to identify a new curriculum for next year’s 7th grade social studies classes. We have chosen to adopt Inves- tigating History (IH) as our curriculum resource for next year. This curriculum aligns with the Massachusetts curriculum frameworks and will lead to increased continuity, as IH is used in several of the elementary grades, as well. Our teachers engaged in several excellent professional learning opportunities to dive deep into their understanding of the curriculum.

At RJ Grey Junior High School, our vision is to create a community of thinkers, learners, and responsible citizens.
