MANAGING Grief Alesha M. Hernandez Service Staff June 2025
I had to remind myself that grief can be an emotional trigger that quakes your mental foundation causing a ripple effect of body, mind and spirit. The repressed feelings of 15 year old me resurface with each notification and it took me over two decades to acknowledge it. And that’s ok. Grief is an unending process that requires patience, thoughtfulness, and intention towards others and yourself. No matter if your grief is direct or adjacent, take time to process it. Do the necessary work, do not suffer in silence. “Unexpected loss can be incredibly traumatic, and even with fatal conditions, it's still hard. The death of a loved one has been recognized as the most significant life stressor that we face as humans.” — Rachel Montanez
Moral of the story: Grief does not equal weakness. Don’t try to regulate when you grieve, just grieve.
Rachel Montanez has a fantastic Forbes article that was helpful to me. Pass it along if you or someone you know may need it. https://www.forbes.com/sites/rachelmontanez/2024/03/28/how-to-manage-grief-at-work- when-youve-experienced-a-loss/
