The weather hasn't been so great recent ly, so we hope you've enjoyed the board gamewe sent out last month, and have maybe plucked up the courage to explore some of the online games we suggested aswell.We've got ourselveswell and t ruly hooked on Candy Crush... Aswe are all unfortunately aware, the usual support groups that we're accustomed to are st ill st ruggling to get up and going again face to face. So, we want to see if we can provide advice on where to find support in different ways, through virtual sessionsand podcasts. Look for as many maths problems as you can by using addition (+). Circle each one you find, add the operators as in the example above. There are at least 10 equations. Dementia Helpline (open all day and free to call) - 0800 888 6678
The Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline is for anyone with a question or concern about dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. This includes providing critical emotional and practical support to carers affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) Their website also has fantastic information packs and support available to you for free. They have packs specially for the current situation as well as ones to help with every day life. Ring the helpline to seek confidential advice, signposting to relevant services and reassure concerns about a loved one living with dementia. They also provide a range of guided online videos from keeping well to demonstrating activities that you could do at home. Rare Dementia Support runs specialist support group services for individuals living with, or affected by, one of five rare dementia diagnoses. They usually run support groups however these have now moved online, follow the web link to see their meeting scheduled and get booked on. Age UK's advice line is a free, confidential national phone service for older people, their families, friends, carers and professionals. Young Dementia have fantastic resources available on their website, but also have a directory they’ve compiled of forums and website where you can meet people in similar situations to yourselves online. Follow the link to be taken to the directory and start making connections today! If you follow the link to the website, you will be taken to the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Directory. Use this search engine to find local online services available near you, as unfortunately all Alzheimer’s Dementia Groups remain closed until further notice. We have given examples of some of the groups you might find below, however remember they are determined on location, so find the ones you can attend by searching your address on the directory today. Held every Tuesday and Friday at 1:30pm on ZOOM, why not give it a go if you enjoy a sing song? Send an email or text to the contact details provided and someone will be in touch with the information. Contact either via email or text to receive details and timings of this ZOOM event. Held specifically nature lovers! Bird watchers, hikers and photographers can share their favourite photos as well as getting involved in other related activities. A skill or interest based online activity group can give you the opportunity to take part in a fun, structured activity. Activities can include bingo, quizzes, singing etc. The groups are run by an expert facilitator with relevant skills and are open to anyone affected by dementia.
